The troubles of the former National Security
Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) seems to have been redoubling as the
federal government on Monday, November 23, asked an Abuja Federal High
Court to revoke the bail granted the former security adviser on
September 1.
Dasuki is standing trial of four-count charge of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.
The central government through the Federal Ministry of Justice said
that the said revocation of the bail of the accused person will able it
to arrest him and others that have been indicted on the alleged
embezzlement of $2 billion which was meant for purchase of arms in 2007
to date, The Punch reports.

Dasuki and others were indicted in an interim report by the Committee
Auditing Procurement of Arms/Equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence
Sector from 2007 to date which was recently submitted to President
Muhammadu Buhari.
The government is also seeking for an order remanding the former NSA in prison pending the commencement of the trial.
The government application reads: “An order of this honourable
court revoking the bail of the defendant/respondent (FG) granted on
September 1, 2015, in Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/319/2015 and committing him
to prison pending trial.”

According to the director, public prosecution of the federation,
Mohammed Diri, the continued absence of the accused person in court
contravened provisions of section 266 of the Administration of Criminal
Justice Act which made it mandatory for a defendant to always be present
in court for his trial.
Diri also noted that intelligence report available to him showed that
Dasuki was planning to evade justice and tamper with ongoing
investigation through the order granted him by the court to travel on
health ground.
